General Instructions

Seed may be treated with Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable at any time from harvesting to sowing.

Treated seed may be held over for sowing in the following season. The product contains cypermethrin for protection against insect pests of stored grain.

Mixing

Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable may be applied neat at 100mL/100kg of seed or diluted with up to 500 mL of water/100 kg of seed (total application volume 600 mL/100 kg). Calculate the amount of water required (see mixing table). Add half the volume to the tank, then the required amount of Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable. Make up the final volume with water and mix thoroughly. If allowed to stand for long periods eg. overnight, agitate thoroughly before using. DO NOT allow to stand for more than 24 hours.

Application

Choose the lowest application volume necessary to give full coverage of seed with the equipment to be used. Application volumes greater than 600 mL are likely to result in excessive wetting of the seed. To achieve disease control, it is essential that the correct quantity of Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable is applied to the grain. It is also essential that each grain is properly treated.

Undiluted: It is essential to use accurately calibrated equipment which is designed for proper coverage of seed at low application volumes.

Diluted: Use correctly calibrated seed treatment equipment to achieve proper grain coverage.

Compatibility

Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable should be applied to grain alone and not mixed with any other product.

Crop Safety

Do not apply 'Vydate' to seed pretreated with Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable.

Cleaning Up

Equipment used should be cleaned with water. A detergent may be used to assist in the removal of dry deposits.

Restraints

Do NOT apply 'Vydate' to seed pre-treated with this product.

GROUP C FUNGICIDE

Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable is a member of the DMI group of fungicides. For fungicide resistance management Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable is a group C fungicide. Some naturally occurring individual fungi resistant to the product and other Group C fungicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any fungal population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the fungal population if these fungicides are used repeatedly. These resistant fungi will not be controlled by this product or other Group C fungicides, thus resulting in a reduction in efficacy and possible yield loss. Since the occurrence of resistant fungi is difficult to detect prior to use, Ospray Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of this product to control resistant fungi.

Insecticide Resistance Warning

GROUP 3A INSECTICIDE

For insecticide resistance management Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable is a Group 3A insecticide.

Some naturally occurring insect biotypes resistant to Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable and other Group 3A insecticides may exist through normal genetic variability in any insect population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the insect population if Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable or other Group 3A insecticides are used repeatedly. The effectiveness of Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable on resistant individuals could be signifi cantly reduced.

Since occurrence of resistant individuals is difficult to detect prior to use, Ospray Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable to control resistant insects. Armour C Seed Dressing Flowable may be subject to specifi c resistance management strategies.

Protection of wildlife, fish, crustaceans and environment

DO NOT feed or expose treated seed to wildlife and domestic animals, particularly birds. Harmful to fish. DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or containers which have held the chemical or treated seed.

Protection of crop, native and other non-target plants

Short coleoptile cultivars should not be sown too deep.

In some situations trifluralin herbicides and triazole fungicides interact to suppress emergence, if possible avoid this contamination. Any seed not intended to be used for sowing should be destroyed.

Safety Directions

Product is poisonous if swallowed. May irritate the eyes and skin. Sensitive workers should use protective clothing. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale dust, vapour or spray mist. When preparing spray and using the product wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and a washable hat, elbow-length PVC gloves and face shield. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day's use, wash gloves, face shield or goggles and contaminated clothing.

Storage

Seed treated with this product must not be used for human consumption or be allowed to contaminate seed intended for human consumption. Treated seed when stored should be kept apart from other seed and the containers should be clearly marked to indicate the contents have been treated with this product.

Containers which have held treated seed should not be used for any other purpose.

Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Disposal

Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush, or puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways desirable vegetation and tree roots. Empty containers and product should not be burnt.

Registered For Commercial Use Domestic Use Overview Controls weeds and grasses in sorghum, maize, sugarcane, lupins, TT-canola and other crops. Chemical Group triazine General Instructions ATRAZINE 500 is a pre- and post-emergent herbicide which will selectively control: - weeds and grasses in sorghum, maize, sweet corn, sugar cane, lupins, broom millet, saccaline and forage sorghum - mintweed in established lucerne - Brome Grass in sirocco phalaris, demeter fescue and currie cocksfoot grass seed crops - provide control of weeds and grasses growing on a fallow in a conservation tillage system. Established perennial species are not satisfactorily controlled at the rates recommended. Duration and effectiveness of control depends on the amount of chemical applied, soil type, rainfall and particular weed species. DO NOT apply more than 6 litres per hectare per year for all crops except forestry. DO NOT apply more than 9 litres per hectare per year in forestry situations in sandy soils and soils classed as highly erodible and not more than 16 litres per hectare per year for clay loams and heavier textured soils. Integrated Weed Management Strategy For TT-Canola The use of this product in TT-canola is subject to an Integrated Weed Management Strategy for the use of triazine herbicides in TT-canola. The Strategy encompasses: - Integrated Weed Management; - the specifi c management of crop plant volunteers and outcrossing to other plants; and - triazine herbicide residue management (agronomic and environment) Compliance with registered label directions and adoption of the principles outlined in the Strategy will assist with implementation of crop management practices that minimise the development of herbicide resistance in treated weeds; reduce the levels of triazine residues in the environment; and manage volunteer plants and outcrossing. Copies of the Strategy are available from a Ospray representative. It is advised that consultation be undertaken with an appropriate agronomist, consultant or Departmental adviser prior to the use of ATRAZINE 500 on TT-Canola. To minimize herbicide resistance: - Avoid dry sowing in heavily weed-infested paddocks. Wait for a weed germination after the opening rains in weedy paddocks. Use a pre-plant knockdown or cultivation. No weeds should be allowed to survive at this stage. - Adapt the weed control program to the anticipated weed spectrum and pressure: Broadleaf Weeds and Ryegrass: use (simazine 500 g/L) or (atrazine 500 g/L) plus trifl uralin pre-emergence. A follow-up with a Group A herbicide (if ryegrass is susceptible) or atrazine 500 g/L may be necessary. Broadleaf Weeds only: use atrazine 500 g/L post-emergence. - DO NOT use atrazine 500 g/L or simazine 500 g/L if the area to be treated had a triazine herbicide applied to it last season - Watch for escapes, especially in paddocks with a long history of Group C herbicide use. - DO NOT use Group C herbicides in consecutive years. Resistance Weed Reporting Growers should collect plant or seed samples where weeds that are normally susceptible to atrazine and simazine may be resistant, get them tested and seek professional advice. To avoid triazine carry-over: On acid soils (pH less than 6.5) - The maximum rate of atrazine 500 g/L or simazine 500 g/L or a combination of the two products to be applied to the crop during the growing season is 4 L/ha. On alkaline soils (pH greater than 6.5) - The maximum rate of atrazine 500 g/L or simazine 500 g/L or a combination of the two products to be applied to the crop during the growing season is 2 L/ha. Post-emergence use - It is recommended that atrazine 500 g/L only be used, and at rates of 2 L/ha or less, on both acid or alkaline soils. Mixing Settling may occur after storage for some weeks. Stir product or invert container several times before opening. Pour the product into the spray vat through a strainer to remove any dry particles or fl akes, which can occasionally occur under hot storage conditions. Add the full quantity of ATRAZINE 500 to the partly fi lled spray tank while agitating. Fill tank and agitate to ensure thorough mixing. Continue agitation while spraying. Agitate vigorously from the bottom if allowed to stand. Reseal partly used container immediately. DO NOT mix or load this product within 20 m of any well, sink or hole or intermittent perennial, stream or river. Application Ground application: application can be made as an overall or band treatment. Minimum band width should be 30 cm. Apply 50 to 100 litres total spray volume per hectare. Aircraft application: with aircraft application the need for good soil moisture at the time of application and follow up rain or irrigation within 10 days is most critical. Apply 20 to 30 litres total spray volume per hectare. DO NOT use human flaggers when applying by aircraft, unless protected by engineering controls such as enclosed cabs. TT-Canola: DO NOT apply to TT-canola by aircraft. Apply only with a low boom sprayer with a 60 m buffer zone downwind of treated fi elds to natural or impounded lakes or dams, and a 20 m buffer zone for any well, sink hole, intermittent or perennial stream. Apply only to areas where run-off is unlikely to occur or where run-off may be captured by farm earthworks. Timing TIME OF APPLICATION (sorghum, maize, broom millet, saccaline, sweet corn) Pre-plant or pre-emergence applications are preferred where grasses are the major problem. (a) Pre-plant application - followed by post-emergence application. Apply after establishment of the seedbed and up to two weeks prior to sowing. Application should preferably be made to moist soil and rain or irrigation should follow application. Mechanical incorporation may also assist. If using this technique on irrigated crops then a post-emergence spray must be applied as soon as possible after the crop has emerged and has developed 2 to 3 leaves. (b) At sowing application - followed by a post-emergence application. Apply at or immediately after planting and before crop and weeds emerge. Application should preferably be made to moist soil and rain or irrigation should follow application. Mechanical incorporation may also assist. If using this technique on irrigated crops then a post-emergence spray must be applied as soon as possible after the crop has emerged and has developed 2 to 3 leaves. (c) At sowing application. Apply at or immediately after planting and before crop and weeds emerge. Application should preferably be made to moist soil and rain or irrigation should follow application. Mechanical incorporation may also assist. Note: applying the total amount as a pre-emergent application increases the risk of crop damage. (d) Post-emergence application Application must be made to seedling broadleaf weeds and grasses when they are not more than 1 cm high. Normally the crop is then at the 2 to 3 leaf stage. For best results the soil should be moist and rain or irrigation should follow application. Add a non-ionic surfactant (100 %) at a rate of 135 mL per 100 L of spray solution, for all post- emergent applications in sorghum, broom millet and saccaline, and 5.5 L/ha of crop oil for maize and sweet corn. See Warning above. Incorporation: If applied to dry soil harrow to incorporate the product into the soil not more than 4 cm deep. Note: should weeds develop after a pre-plant or pre-emergence application a shallow cultivation may assist. Avoid deep cultivation which may throw untreated soil over the sprayed area, as this may seriously reduce weed control. Compatibility Compatible with glyphosate, atrazine, ametryn, diuron, Primatol† Z, dicamba, diquat/paraquat mixtures, hexazinone. In sugar cane only the addition of sodium 2,4-D will assist in short term suppression of Nutgrass and other sedges. Restraints DO NOT plant crops other than those recommended on this label for at least 6 months following treatments of this product at rates of up to 2.5 litres per hectare and for 18 months following treatments of 2.5 to 6.0 litres per hectare. DO NOT apply to waterlogged soil. DO NOT apply if heavy rains or storms that are likely to cause run-off are forecast within two days of application. DO NOT irrigate to the point of run-off for at least two days after application. DO NOT use as a pre-emergence application in sorghum, broom millet or saccaline during the wet season in the northern irrigation areas of Western Australia. DO NOT use a knapsack sprayer for application in eucalypts and Pinus radiata plantations. DO NOT use or apply this product post-emergence in triazine tolerant (TT) Canola on raised beds or where furrows have been created in soil for the purposes of holding or channeling water. DO NOT apply product to any drainage line. Drainage lines show evidence of the action of periodically fl owing water (for example, gravel, pebble, rock and sand bed, scour hole or nick point) and/or an incised channel at least 30 cm deep. DO NOT handle, mix, apply or conduct testing operations in areas susceptible to run-off where drainage results in rapid entry into waterways, particularly where no specifi c and effective action has been taken to prevent run-off into waterways. These areas may include areas mounded perpendicular to the contour, roads, access tracks, snig tracks, and compacted log dumps. Resistance Warning Ospray ATRAZINE 500 Flowable Herbicide is a member of the triazine group of herbicides and has the inhibitors of photosynthesis at photosystem II mode of action. For weed resistance management, this product is a Group C herbicide. Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to ATRAZINE 500 and other Group C herbicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any weed population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds will not be controlled by ATRAZINE 500 or other Group C herbicides. Since the occurrence of resistant weeds is diffi cult to detect prior to use, Ospray Pty. Ltd. accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of ATRAZINE 500 to control the resistant weeds. Advice as to strategies and alternative treatments that can be used should be obtained from your local supplier, consultant, local Department of Agriculture, Primary Industries Department or a Ospray representative. This is most likely to occur in pre-plant or pre- emergence applications using rates in excess of 3.6 L/ha. To avoid the likelihood of herbicide injury use techniques (a), (b) or (d) in the Time of application section. DO NOT use as a pre-emergence application in the wet season in the northern irrigation areas of Western Australia. When sowing is made on the fl at avoid application to ridged soil. Applying the total amount of product as a pre-emergence application will increase the risk of crop injury in the event of heavy rain after application. Maize, sweet corn For post-emergent application add crop oil at a rate of 5.5 L/ha if grass weeds are a problem. Ensure that the mixture is continually agitated. DO NOT apply mixtures of crop oil to stressed crops, inbred lines or breeding stock as injury may occur. If only broadleaf weeds are a problem, add 135 mL of 100% non-ionic surfactant per 100 L of spray mixture. Summer crops Heavy rains immediately following an application tend to result in excessive concentrations of herbicide in the seed furrow, thus encouraging possible crop injury. This is most likely to occur when a pre-plant or pre-emergence application is made using rates in excess of 3.6 litres per hectare. To avoid the likelihood of herbicide injury follow Time of Application (a), (b) or (d) listed below. Re-entry Period DO NOT enter treated areas without protective clothing until spray has dried.
